Annual SAAFE Walk, September 17

On Thursday, September 17, 2009 we held our Annual  SAAFE (Solvent Abuse Awareness For Everyone) Walk which was well attended by the community . The event began at our centre on 1700 Dease Street at 10:00 AM, with smudging and  drumming. The walk then proceeded around Friendship Gardens, Victoria Street, Waterloo, Dease and back to the centre. We had speakers, entertaniment and a Feast.

The SAAFE Walk is held each year to bring awareness to the public of the prevalance of solvent abuse (sniffing or huffing) in remote communities. The message also given is that this problem is spreading to urban areas and that parents everywhere should be alert.

The 10th Annual SAAFE Walk is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 16, 2010.
